blur
Like most non-Blur fans, I know these British rock legends (they’ve been around 20 years) mostly from their uber-hit “Song 2” (aka “Wooo-HOO!”), which is just a good old fashion crunchy, catchy rock tune. But I never jumped in any farther.

However my friend just gave me their 2003 album “Think Tank”, which he assure me was truly fantastic. As I write this, I am currently about halfway through my first listen of the album, so I’m in no position to judge. But I’m liking what I’m hearing. I cherry-picked this one right away — feel like it’s a pretty good way to start off a tuesday. Get crazy…

I am slightly impressed with the range of influences I’ve heard so far. Funk, grinding guitars, dance floor-friendly beats, a bit of soul. Some slow, some hard — but hey, you don’t always have to fuck ‘em hard. Sometimes that’s just not right to do.

This one just played while I was writing, “Brothers and Sisters”, and I also liked it a lot. Definitely different than the first — more of a Gorillaz meets TV on the Radio feel for this one.

And I’m only halfway through. Hey, we’re just gettin’ started…
