I can’t help but feeling like I’m taking a history lesson when I listen to these guys. Maybe it’s the fact that their name conjures up images of greek mythology, or maybe it’s cuz their album title ( Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix) is a tip of the hat to one of the most talented musical virtuosos of all time. But probably it’s their music — a flowing, snythy mix of psychedelia, resonating chords, and feel-good goosebumps. (if you need proof of the last sentence, look no further than “Love Like A Sunset”).
I’m telling you, Bill and Ted would have never needed that phone booth if they had this album.

As I mentioned with their first single “Lisztomania,” these French rockers have the uncanny ability to tred that line between dance-hall rocking jams and bittersweet love songs. I imagine their live show must be a mix of moshpits and teary-eyed, moistened ladies looking for true love. (sounds like Saturday nights at my apartment)
As with the above song “1901,” I’ve highlighted their more upbeat, rock-friendly jams. But some of the real gems on this set are the slower tunes…the aforementioned goosebump-inducing tracks. I’d post them up here, but the last thing I want is readers to be any more teary-eyed than normal. It’s hard enough to sit through my jokes.

i LOVE this song - onea the top ones on a great album
